Our feline friends love cannabis

Our feline friends love cannabis!

And although our kitties could reap some benefits from this beautiful plant – that doesn’t mean our favourite furries should also get high.

Cannabis intoxication can have serious consequences for our pets.

This is what you need to know about cats and cannabis:

- Cannabis is not safe for cats to consume in any form.

- While some cat owners may consider cannabis similar to catnip, they are not at all the same.

- The most common ways kitties are exposed to cannabis is by inhaling smoke or ingesting dried marijuana or edibles.

- Symptoms to look out for include extreme sleepiness, hypersalivation, dilated pupils, low blood pressure, falling over and vomiting.

If your kitty demonstrates any of the symptoms above, you should take them to the vet immediately.

The good news is that in most situations they can fully recover from cannabis toxicity with no long-term effects.

So please keep your dry flower and edibles away from your furry friends. 😺
